Matmidot Program

This Drisha initiative is for advanced-level full-time students of Talmud.

Bava Metzia, Chapters 7-8
Utilizing traditional commentaries we will conduct a textual and conceptual analysis of the latter part of Chapter seven and first part of Chapter eight of Bava Metzia. The segment deals with the laws of the four shomrim. Topics to be covered include: the category of "four shomrim," the unique status of shomer chinam (negligence), the concept of "benefit" as constitutive of legal and monetary obligations and the like.

Bava Kama, Chapters 2-3
We will study Chapters 2 and 3 of Bava Kama, examining issues related to damage caused by people. We will study in depth the concept of adam muad leolam. Additionally, we will study the sugyot of gerama and garmi.
